• I just completed a two-week discussion group with some really fantastic people. I went in hoping to gain some new skills to improve myself, but I left with more than I could have imagined.

I won’t go into the details, but if anyone I met there comes across this, I want to take this opportunity to thank you again and let you know you are appreciated. A lot 🙂

  • Holy cow, that was both entertaining and concerning — for the entire open-source community.

Thankfully, I’ve found some amazing partners to back my projects, and I am confident that my clients and I will be safe and sound no matter what happens to the WordPress project.

We’re full-steam ahead and more resilient than ever thanks to these episodes of chaos. Sometimes we need that chaos to get a better look at the bigger picture, and I’m thrilled with what we found when the dust settled.

Shoutout to the amazing folks behind AspirePress, WPMU DEV, and so many other indie contributors. Y’all rock!

  • Life can get tough. It’s all relative, and how we process things internally can’t be compared to others. I’m constantly reminded of how fortunate I am to have such supportive family (and pets), friends, mentors, and peers. And to my brother who proclaimed at my graduation “HE’S AN ATHEIST NOW”… I’m not, and never have been, haha. I am connecting with God in ways no one can describe, and I am learning to cherish every new opportunity and experience. Thank you

  • I had a really interesting idea… (and I’m sure others have had this idea as well, but I wanted to try this out myself)

WordPress’s “new” block editor has kind of changed the game, making it more inline with the user-friendliness of competitors like Wix and Squarespace. But man does it still carry a lot of weight.

Cloudflare has been offering free static asset hosting for a while now, and their Workers platform is both stable and really affordable.

What if there was a stupid-simple way to build with the WP block editor and have your pages exported directly to Cloudflare? You wouldn’t really need a web server. WordPress can be installed locally, on your or any computer, and all you’d need is a Cloudflare account.

Maybe there’s something in the pipeline to make [publishing to] the web even more accessible…

  • These are the basics of what run Home Cloud – if you want to deploy and maintain the containers in your own environment (instead of a pre-packaged mini server), here’s how you can create a similar setup:

More to come as I deconstruct the commercial product in order to rebuild and deploy in a DIY-style home network
